Uniform fabric manufacturers to benefit from PM MITRA Parks in 7 Indian states, set to create 20 lakh jobs

The Indian Central Government has announced its mega plan for textile manufacturing in the country. This mega setup will benefit the Uniform Fabric Manufacturers in the 7 states selected for the program.

PM Narendra Modi’s vision for the mega textile parks is inspired by 5F, which includes Farm to Fibre to Factory to Fashion to Foreign.

PM “MITRA” stands for PM Mega Integrated Textile Region, and Apparel parks are a step towards the vision of converting India into a global textile hub for exports as well as manufacturing.

By achieving economies of scale and attracting global players to manufacture in India, PM, MITRA Parks are set to improve competitiveness in the textile industry, benefiting Uniform Fabric Manufacturers as well.

The parks’ top-notch infrastructure and industry training facilities are expected to attract significant investment and create lakhs of jobs, enabling India to become a major hub for textile production and exports.

Government Selects 7 Ideal Sites for PM MITRA Parks, Boosting Indian Textile Manufacturing

Indian Central Government has chosen 7 sites where these PM MITRA parks will be planted. The government created eligibility criteria for the states and for the sites to evaluate them for the Parks.

The selection process for PM MITRA Park sites was rigorous and took into account several crucial factors.

For instance, the state’s connectivity with other regions of the country and the world, the existing ecosystem for textile manufacturing, state policy, the infrastructure required for textile production, utility services, and other essential aspects.

These factors played a vital role in identifying the most suitable sites for the parks.

The seven states that have been selected for the program are as follows:

  • Tamil Nadu
  • Telangana
  • Gujarat
  • Karnataka
  • Madhya Pradesh
  • Maharashtra
  • Uttar Pradesh

All these states will get financial aid from the Ministry of Textiles for the development of the parks. The financial aid will be up to ₹500 crores for each park.

Furthermore, the Central government will also give CIS (Competitive Incentive Support) for every single park up to ₹300 crores.

PM MITRA Parks to Create 20 Lakh Jobs, Benefit Uniform Fabric Manufacturers

The Central Government will collaborate with the 7 State governments to boost the investment process, create job opportunities, encourage innovation, and convert India into a major textile hub for exports and production.

As per the government, the PM Mitra Parks will create around 20 lakh jobs in the country as government will spend almost ₹70,000 crore rupees.

The Union Textile Minister of the country, Piyush Goyal, in a social media post, announced that this is the biggest initiative ever for the textile sector infrastructure, which will benefit the Uniform Fabric Manufacturers.

The Union Textile Minister also said that these mega textile parks would be created with an outlay of ₹4,445 crore. He further said that PM MITRA aligns with the government’s schemes to make Free Trade Agreements. This will open up India’s apparel, Textile, and other markets to the world.

The minister further said that India already outperforms various neighboring countries in the rank of top textile exports, but the goal is to be the largest exporter in the globe.
